Review of Silhouette Thread Lift at The Clifford Clinic

Motherhood has been a wonderful journey for me but I must say it’s really challenging especially I have to juggle between my children and business. All these late nights had been causing a toil on my skin over the years and recently I felt that my skin is getting saggy and loose. Even my laugh lines are getting obvious due to droopy cheeks. The saggy skin also caused a bit of the jowl formation. It got to a point where I felt that I looked tired and old in photos, losing my youthful glow and that kinda irritated me… hahaha! Ageing is real! So I  went to Dr Gerard Ee and Dr Timothy Shim of The Clifford Clinic for help. I didn’t want to go through any major surgery and so he suggested doing Silhouette Thread Lift by Sinclair Pharma, the global leader in aesthetics technology with a focus on collagen stimulation.

This face thread lift is definitely a less invasive face lifting procedure alternative without the surgical risks and downtime associated with a traditional face lift.

By inserting very fine surgical sutures into the soft tissues of the face in order to gently lift and support sagging areas, Silhouette Thread Lift creates a more rejuvenated and lifted look. The process helps to reduce jowl formation along the jawline, raise the outer brow area, and reduce sagging in the nasolabial folds and cheeks. It also achieves a re-tightening effect which redefines facial contours with a naturally rejuvenated look.

Dr Timothy Shim did the procedure for me. A short introduction to Dr Timothy Shim…he is a Senior Consultant Plastic Surgeon with interests in aesthetic and reconstructive microsurgery. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2002 and completed his basic surgical training in 2005.

He subsequently completed his advanced training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in 2011. Dr. Shim is well versed in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery including blepharoplasty, eyebag removal, face lift, breast augmentation, high definition liposuction, abdominoplasty and fat grating.

He is also trained in supermicrosurgery and completed his fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery in University of Tokyo. He is known to be meticulous and has a keen eye for detail. Dr. Shim is also actively involved in the training of Plastic Surgery Residents and was previously the programme director of the NHG Plastic Surgery Residency Programme.

The clinic assistant applied numbing cream on my face first before I went in for a consultation with Dr Shim first as i wanted to understand more about Silhouette Thread Lift. Dr Shim mentioned that the some of sutures would be from the scalp near to the top of the ears instead of the usual sutures on the face. I was a bit apprehensive when i heard that a 2mm hole will be made on the scalp on both the left and right side. Dr Shim assured me that the holes would be so small that he didn’t even need to stitch them up. I also asked him if hair could still grow back and he said not to worry about that.

At the same time, Dr Shim went through some possible complications of threadlift procedure, like indentation, bruising, asymmetry and infection. He said indentation is very common and it will resolve by itself over 2-6 weeks time. Asymmetry is sometimes that may happen but he will try his best to make it as perfect as he can. And lastly, infection can be prevented with proper care and sanitisation during the procedure and proper aftercare.

After the consultation, I proceeded to the operating room to wait for Dr Shim.

He did some markings using a washable marker pen to guide him in the entry and exit points of the threads.

He applied iodine meticulously on my cheeks and ears before giving me jabs of local anaesthesia on my face and scalp around the area of the sutures.

Frankly speaking, this was the most painful part of the procedure but it was bearable. The anaesthesia started working within minutes and when Dr Shim inserted the threads into my face, I didn’t feel any pain at all.

The whole procedure took about 30 minutes and I was just lying there on the bed, feeling relaxed while Dr Shim did his magic on me.

After the threads were inserted into my face on both sides, I was asked to sit up so that Dr Shim could adjust and tightened the threads to make my face as symmetrical as possible.

There were 2 indentations but as per what Dr Shim mentioned, they will resolved over 2-6 weeks time. I had some bruising as well which was normal and it would also resolve within 1-2 weeks.

I checked with Dr Shim on the aftercare of Silhouette Thread Lift and he mentioned not to wash my hair for a day for the sultures on the scalp to dry and not to massage my face hard for at least 3 weeks, especially when washing my face. Other than that, everything was as per normal.

I had a follow up consultation with Dr Shim 1 week later and the bruises were resolved already and the indentations were not so obvious by then.

I am loving the results of the Silhouette Thread Lift so far. Also this is Silhouette Soft. I still look like myself but my skin is not so sagging anymore. It actually reversed my age, making me look younger and more refreshed. My nasolabial folds were not so obvious anymore and my face became more v-shaped. I must say this treatment is suitable for all skin types, especially if you want to eliminate sagging skin, aging lines, or wrinkles, without going through surgery. Can’t wait for the result as collagen gradually regenerate over the next 3 to 6 months to improve my fine lines, facial contours and skin texture, giving my skin more elasticity.
